Adesman Cult Class #4
Tuesday, August 18th, 7:00pm, Bigham Knoll, Jacksonville
Presented by Dr. Peter Adesman
What is a "Cult Wine"?
"Cult wines" are wines produced usually from notable wineries or winemakers. In most cases these bottlings are unique and coveted either for their ageability, small case productions, special processing or rare releases. As a result, wineries will impose "allocations" to consumers upon release limiting the number of bottles that can be purchased by any one buyer. Generally wines in this category have dedicated enthusiasts and collectors that are willing to pay large sums of money for as much of the production as they can get their hands on and will age them before consuming or reselling these very special wines. Cult wines are often seen as trophy wines to be collected or as investment wine to be held rather than consumed.
Are these wines worth the price tag? Would you like the chance to taste wines that cost hundreds of dollars a bottle? Don't miss this unique and intimate experience of tasting some of the worlds most coveted wines with one of the Rogue Valley's most serious collectors & decide for yourself!
**Please note that due to the rare nature of these wines, this class has a max capacity of 18 students

Let's Get Dirty Class #6
Thursday, August 20th, 5:00pm, Bigham Knoll, Jacksonville
Presented by Dr. Scott Burns
What is terroir?
ter·roir
terˈwär/
noun
The complete natural environment in which a particular wine is produced, including factors such as the soil, topography, and climate.
-The characteristic taste and flavor imparted to a wine by the environment in which it is produced.
One of the factors that contributes to the unique qualities of Southern Oregon wines are the many soils types and elevations that our vines thrive in. Soil is a driving factor of "Terroir", providing us a sense of place in the glass that does not be replicated in the cellar. Come explore the history and impacts of Southern Oregon soils with Dr. Scott Burns, professor emertitus at Portland State University. He has spent a lifetime as an expert in geomorphology, Enviornmental Geology & Engineering, Soils, Radon, Quarternary Geology, Terroir and Landslides traveling the world to gain experience & insight few have the opportunity to attain. We invite you to come and share in this wealth of knowledge paired with four medal winning wines from unique sites that highlight these prinicples.
